SUPPLY CHAIN WEEK

BIPOC REPRESENTATION IN SUPPLY CHAIN

HEAR THEIR STORIES

ABOUT THIS EVENT

The supply chain industry is one of the most diverse industries, with one of the highest numbers of women and the BIPOC community represented. In a special presentation, we have welcomed four members of the Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) community in a panel discussion on the challenges they have faced in the supply chain industry. The panelists in this session shared stories of their entrance into their careers, what they have experienced, and how the industry can be more inclusive and equally represented throughout all communities.

Moderator - Ian Seunarine, Dir. of Sales & Business Development, Duha Group, & President, Board of Supply Chain Canada (MB)

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba my focus has always been on the needs of our community, through business, education and volunteer services.

I received both my undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Arts) and graduate degree (Masters of Natural Resources Management) at the University of Manitoba.  I have continued to learn through various continuous education programs such as the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (now called Supply Chain Canada), Extended Education (through the University of Manitoba) and various Lean Certified Programs (where I now hold a yellow belt in Lean Processes).

My current role, as Global Director of Sales & Business Development for The Duha Group has provided a tremendous opportunity to work with a worldwide customer base and engage in today’s opportunities for our partners.  This includes transitioning transactional sales and marketing to a digital platform, re-designing and re-creating new product lines/ services and working jointly with partners toward solution-based concepts.

Having a background (over 20 years) in Supply Chain Management has provide unique value-added opportunities for our clients as we approach our partnership with them, as part of our extended supply chain.  This has never been more prominent than now; with the challenges we all face through the pandemic.

Throughout the past ten years I have also been involved with various educational associations through instructing different courses for students of all levels.  This includes working with the University of Manitoba’s Certificate in Management program, International College of Manitoba, Supply Chain Canada and University of Winnipeg (Professional, Applied, Continuing Education – PACE).

Volunteering has always been important to me and I was fortunate to be able to hold the post of Logistics Manager for the Canadian Red Cross Disaster Management Team (Western Division) for 5 years.  In addition, I was involved in coaching community soccer for 20 years.  Today, I’m grateful to hold the position of President for the Manitoba Institute, Supply Chain Canada.
